RiverFest only happens through the efforts of our volunteers Vassar’s RiverFest is a volunteer operation.  The committee is all volunteers.  Raising sponsorships, coordinating vendors, coordinating and running the events, setting up and tearing down is done by volunteers. We do contract some services and we also rely on many municipal workers and school employees to facilitate our use of city and school property and our presence on the streets of Vassar.  We are very grateful for all of their help.  Even with all the work they do, we need volunteers to work with them. Each event we have needs someone to coordinate it, run it while it goes on, and ensure the committee provides or coordinates the right type and amount of support for it.  While some events rely on a single individual, others need several people.  The Children’s Workshop, for example, needs several facilitators in order to run.  We need a staff for information booths to ensure the many guests and vendors can find what they are looking for and more to help coordinate shared resources and timing between some events. Several events or activities run by local service clubs, youth groups, fraternal organizations, and churches require additional volunteer help to provide what they do for RiverFest. If you are willing to help us with RiverFest, whether championing an event from the first step of planning through conclusion or helping out for a couple of hours during the Fest, please contact us at volunteer@vassarriverfest.org or call Drew Stark at 989.274.5396.  We appreciate all the help we receive.
