Hot Air Balloon Launch & Glo Saturday, August 5, 2017, from 7 to 9:30 PM adjacent to Central School. For the fourth year, RiverFest will have its Hot Air Balloon Launch & Glo. This year we are working toward 15 balloons to set up on the field next to Central School, inflate before rising into the air for a flight and then conduct a glow after recovery. As always, safety first, and the pilots' saying, "We would rather be on the ground wishing we were in the air than in the air wishing we were on the ground" holds true. After the beautiful launch last year, we hope to again see the balloons take flight in 2017. The feature balloon for 2017 is Neil, owned by Sean Dennis of Grand Blanc, MI Neil is named after singer Neil Diamond. Owner Sean has been around ballooning all his life. You could say ballooning is a family affair. Sean's father started flying in 1972. Sean started flying in 1988 getting his pilot license in 2000. He also has 2 brothers who are pilots. Sean and his wife, Sue (who is also his crew chief) enjoy traveling to events meeting different people in the community they fly in. This will be the 4th year Sean, Sue and Neil will be at the Vassar Riverfest. If you have any questions or wish to donate toward the Hot Air Balloons please contact Cheryl Deike at (989) 823-3346.
